'The Choir That Rocks', broadcast on ITV in June and September 2011, and again in May 2012 in Scotland, was filmed between January and May 2011 and followed Rock Choir as they led to the biggest performance of their lives at Wembley Arena. The 3 hour-long episodes followed the exciting and often emotional stories of members singing in Glasgow, York, Wakefield, Bournemouth, Farnham and Cheltenham.
Commissioned by the ITV Controller of Entertainment, John Kaye Cooper, whose aim was to produce a 'beautiful documentary' for the viewers, the focus was on the human stories. These were incredibly heartwarming, fun, tear jerking, humorous and sometimes, just a little eccentric - we are British, after all! 10star Entertainment’s Bea Ballard described Rock Choir as "a very British success story, full of warmth, passion, and enthusiasm.”
Our lovely series producer Alannah Richardson went on to produce the BBC series The Choir, which featured the Military Wives and Gareth Malone.
Also featured in the series was an up-beat and feel-good soundtrack that was available to download from iTunes and reached no. 17 in the download chart. 'Rock Choir Deluxe' features 20 tracks including the live version of ‘Something Inside So Strong’ performed by no less than 7000 Rock Choir members.
