About us

Rock Choir was founded by Caroline Lusher in 2001 when she taught A-Level performing Arts at Farnborough 6th Form College. She initiated the idea to help her class of students gain confidence in singing and performance.

Caroline’s in-depth background and experience in performance and composition allowed her to create an unusual and dynamic new performance group in the style of a choir as well as finding a positive and unique way to communicate with her students. The Rock Choir grew rapidly attracting nearly 170 teenage students at the college as it became a popular enrichment activity.

Caroline then left the college and offered Rock Choir to the general public creating a business package that would enable her to work with a large number of choirs full-time. Caroline musically arranges and choreographs all the pop, gospel and motown songs that the Rock Choir performs and teaches each choir separately over the thirty- week schedule.

The Rock Choir has achieved a fantastic reputation and is well known for its up-beat and feel-good performances. Caroline’s primary objective is to support her members and make sure they experience a sense of fulfilment and improvement in confidence. She believes that everyone should be able to enjoy singing and performance and be part of something special. Local media, businesses, organisations, charities and MPs all agree that Rock Choir as something fantastic for the community.

The final amount of your membership cost for the term is then due on the 1st rehearsal of that term when you arrive at the venue.
Please note: If you start after the 1st rehearsal of the term, as a new member and for this term only, the cost of the weeks you have missed will be deducted from the total terms cost.

Rock Choir for juniors

Rock Choir Juniors offers an opportunity for 6-10 year olds to learn pop, gospel and Motown songs, routines, coordination and a variety of musical and vocal skills that will support self confidence and a future in singing and performance. Rehearsals are fun and lively. Most Juniors move up to the young adult Rock Choir when they reach the joining age.

Rock Choir Juniors rehearses for 10 weeks a term in the following locations:

Tuesday evenings 4.30-6.00pm: Farnham - Farnham College

Thursday evenings 5.45-7.15pm: Godalming - St Hilary’s School, Holloway Hill

Membership cost per term is £80

Rock Choir for young adults

Rock Choir for Young Adults offers an opportunity for 10-21 year olds to experience advanced training in voice, harmony, routine, coordination using pop, gospel and motown songs. Although most members who join have not sung in public before, they quickly gain confidence through Rock Choir and enjoy the fun and lively weekly rehearsals.

Members tend to become proud that they are part of Rock Choir and enjoy performing in Rock Choir at events and venues such as Guilfest,The New Victoria Theatre, Woking and Disneyland Paris. They also use Rock Choir as part of their Duke of Edinburgh awards and on their CVs when applying for college and jobs. There is one rehearsal a week for this age group and members travel from far a-field to attend as it is a popular session.

Rock Choir for Young Adults rehearses for 10 weeks a term in the following location:

Rock Choir for adults

Rock Choir for adults attracts a wide variety of individuals who simply love to sing pop, gospel and motown songs. Most members have not sung before in public and quickly gain self-confidence by taking part. The weekly rehearsals offer time-out for the member in a fun and lively atmosphere whilst learning new skills. There is a huge sensation of feeling part of a group and members experience a triumph after performing in front of an audience. Members also experience a sense of pride and enjoyment having performed at venues such as Guilfest, The New Victoria Theatre and Disneyland Paris.

Rock Choir for Adults rehearses for 10 weeks a term in the following locations:
Tuesday evenings: 8-9.30pm: Farnham College
Thursday mornings: 9.45-11.15am: Farnham United Reformed Church Hall
Wednesday evenings: 8-9.30pm Guildford College
Thursday evenings: 7.15-8.45pm: Godalming St Hilarys School, Holloway Hill
