The Rock Choir Experience

Rock Choir offers an alternative experience to the traditional classical or community choir, pioneering a new approach to vocal training and entertainment. We offer fun weekly rehearsals using well-known hit songs with original vocal arrangements and performance elements.

Rock Choir has achieved a fantastic reputation in the UK for our sophisticated teaching techniques, unique style and the feel-good experience we give our members. We support hundreds of local communities and raise money for charities through performances and events.

Take part in a free rehearsal session before you decide to join Rock Choir. There is no audition and no spotlight shone upon you at the session.

When you attend, you will take part in a normal rehearsal and afterwards you can talk to your Choir Leader about the joining process.

How much does it cost?

After your free session, Rock Choir costs £25 a month, payable by direct debit. This works out at £100 for each of our three terms.

  • Michael Fricker

    Michael Fricker runs choirs in Bexleyheath, Blackheath, Dulwich and Avery Hill/Eltham.

    Michael Fricker graduated from the "Musikhochschule Zurich" in Switzerland before moving to the UK. In the last few years he has been busy playing concerts through Europe and has shared the stage with bands like "Kings Of Leon" and other international acts. He also has many years of experience in teaching music in secondary schools as well as leading different choirs, bands and musical workshops.

    Michael is thrilled to bring his vast live experience into leading his choirs in Bexleyheath, Blackheath, Dulwich and Avery Hill/Eltham.

    Stephanie Bailey

    Stephanie Bailey runs choirs in Bridgend, Pontyclun and Cowbridge.

    She is a talented singer and pianist who graduated with a BA Hons in Music at Kingston University. Continuing her studies back in Wales Stephanie gained a PGCE. With Grade 8 Distinctions in both Piano and Singing (ABRSM) Stephanie has performed as part of a choir ‘Camerata’ for the BBC, as well as accompanying and conducting various choirs in South Wales, performing in prestigious venues including St David’s Hall, Cardiff and Swansea Grand Theatre.

    Stephanie Bailey is a talented musician and has enjoyed accompanying soloists Simone Rebello and Wynne Evans (The ' Go Compare' opera singer) in concert. With her diverse musical experience Stephanie is delighted to work with Rock Choir, sharing in its energy and enthusiasm as the team offer an exciting musical journey to all.

    Sonia Eyre

    Sonia Eyre runs choirs in Solihull, Birmingham, Lichfield and Sutton Coldfield.

    Sonia Eyre is a classically trained singer who gained her Masters in Early Music Performance from the Trinity College of Music in London. Starting music at the tender age of six, Sonia learnt piano, violin and saxophone to grade 8 standard. She has been privileged to perform vocal solos in venues such as Birmingham Symphony Hall and Notre Dame, Paris. As well as performing regularly Sonia enjoys teaching all ages and abilities in the range of instruments that she offers.

    Rock Choir is an amazing opportunity for anyone that loves to sing and Sonia loves bringing everyone together in the West Midlands singing the pop, Motown and gospel classics!

    Jennifer Sim

    Jennifer Sim runs choirs in Milngavie, Bothwell, Hamilton, Glasgow, Largs, Kilmacolm and Greenock.

    Jennifer has been performing at competition level since the age of 5 and has Grade 8 Piano and Grade 7 Violin. After being accepted into the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow, she achieved an Honours Degree at St. Andrews University. She competed for many years in the Inverclyde Music and National Mod festivals winning in vocal and instrumental performances. She loves amateur theatre and has twice performed at the Edinburgh Festival.

    She's had many amazing opportunities to perform with Rock Choir since joining the team in January 2011. Jennifer's personal highlights have to include performing at Wembley Arena, The Royal Albert Hall, The Echo Arena  in Liverpool and at London's O2 Arena.

    Jennifer has boundless energy and enthusiasm and is delighted to be offering more people in Scotland the opportunity to take part in Rock Choir!

    Jonathan Grosberg

    Jonathan Grosberg runs choirs in Canterbury, Deal, Ashford, Folkestone and Thanet.

    Jonathan is a talented and enthusiastic pianist and composer with a 1st Class BA (Hons) in English and Drama from the University of Kent. He achieved Grade 8 in piano, has composed music for theatrical productions that have played to hundreds, and has led and sung in music groups in the UK and in the USA, where he studied Theatre at Pennsylvania State University.

    Jonathan is passionate about writing songs, performing and enjoys teaching music to others. He is thoroughly excited to be a part of Rock Choir as it allows him to spread his joy of singing.

    Ian Sainsbury

    Ian Sainsbury runs choirs in Norwich, Beccles/Lowestoft and Wymondham.

    After achieving a distinction at Grade 8 piano, Ian ran away from home to join the circus (Blackpool Tower – in the band!). A varied career as a singer, musician and comedian has taken him from London to Bangkok and from theatre tours to private parties for corporations and individuals, including Sir Paul McCartney. He loves to perform and his passion for music is infectious. 

    Leading Rock Choir in East Anglia gives him the perfect excuse to share the amazing buzz of singing great songs together.

    Ian says, "The response to Rock Choir in Norfolk and Suffolk has been fantastic. I think the fact that no one needs to audition attracts people who might otherwise be shy about trying a singing group. Everyone has a voice, and in Rock Choir there's no pressure, just a nurturing, fun, learning environment where anyone can discover - or rediscover - the  joy of singing. Wonderful friendships have been made along the way, because we're all here to sing and have fun together. Every session ends with a group of happy, buzzing people, batteries recharged and ready for anything!"

    Elle Williams

    Elle Williams runs choirs in Exeter, Newton Abbot and Plymouth.

    A classically trained singer and pianist, Elle graduated with a BMus (Hons) from the University of Birmingham in 2004, going on to complete a PGCE in Secondary Music at the University of Bristol.

    Together with her teaching, Elle also enjoys a varied performance career. Working both as a classical soloist and as a member of several choral groups throughout Devon, she has performed across the UK, including appearances at the Royal Festival Hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall and Exeter Cathedral.

    Both a passionate teacher and performer, Elle has a wealth of experience and is delighted to be part of the Rock Choir team.

    Natasha Willis

    Natasha Willis runs choirs in Ringwood, Romsey, Christchurch & Salisbury.

    Natasha is an enthusiastic and talented musician, with Grade 8 Singing and Piano and a Masters in Music Performance from Southampton University. Her performance career has been exciting and varied, including Choral Church Scholarships, Musical Theatre roles, a capella groups and various funk and rock bands.

    Natasha Willis also loves teaching, and has musically directed choirs and musical theatre shows in the Southampton area. She is thrilled to be able to offer her skills as a Rock Choir leader and encourages the people of Great Britain to sing up, join in and become rock stars!

  • Phil Reynolds

    Phil Reynolds runs choirs in Tameside/Hyde, Rochdale/Littleborough, Middleton, Norden/Bamford and Saddleworth/Oldham.

    He is a multi-instrumentalist spanning a range of styles from classical to contemporary. He graduated with honours from the Royal Academy of Music, and has performed with some of the world’s top classical, theatre and pop stars in the UK and abroad (including South Africa, Europe, USA, Bermuda and the Far East). Professional work includes Sunset Boulevard, Oliver and Chicago with artists including Glenn Close, Elaine Paige,  John Barrowman, Ruthie Henshall & Paul O’Grady.

    Phil Reynolds has worked with The Philharmonia, London Virtuosi, London Pops, and Royal Philharmonic Orchestras, appearing on many professional recordings.

    Phil has taught music for over ten years. He’s delighted to be bringing all this experience to his role as a Rock Choir leader, believing singing is for everyone.

    Charlotte Fane

    Charlotte Fane runs choirs in Hove, Brighton, Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill, Eastbourne and Lewes.

    Charlotte graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in 2003 with a BMus Honours, Grade 8 Singing and Grade 7 Piano. She has performed with amateur and professional companies and regularly sings with close harmony trio The Doo Wop Dolls.

    Charlotte teaches at various schools and theatre schools in East Sussex as well as having her own private teaching practice. She ran the Stagecoach Regional choir for the South East who performed at events at the Royal Albert Hall and Birmingham Symphony Hall. Highly motivated by all types of music, Charlotte enjoys teaching and believes that everyone can sing. Rock Choir is a fantastic opportunity for everyone to be a star and Charlotte enjoys bringing the Rock back into Brighton.

    Kathryn Davies

    Kathryn Davies runs choirs in Warrington, Chester, Knutsford and Nantwich/Crewe.

    Kathryn trained at Mountview Theatre School gaining a BA(hons) Performance. Since graduating she has appeared in a number of productions both internationally and in the UK, most notably the West End production of Blood Brothers. She is a talented vocal coach with many of her pupils following in her footsteps to train at London Drama Schools. She recently gained an ALCM(TD) in Musical Theatre and runs West End Workshop North Wales during the summer months.

    Kathryn is delighted to be part of the Rock Choir family and can’t wait to bring her energetic personality and voice to her members.

    Maxine Cherrie

    Maxine Cherrie runs choirs in Bury/Bolton, Altrincham/Sale, Worsley and Wilmslow.

    Maxine started her musical studies at a young age and before long was awarded a scholarship to attend the Royal Academy of Music part-time, followed by a full-time scholarship at the Purcell School of Music. She furthered her studies at the Royal Northern College of Music before switching her route from Classical to Contemporary by attending Salford University where she pursued a qualification in Popular Music with Recording techniques.

    Maxine Cherrie has a wealth of performance experience both as a professional vocalist and dancer. An accomplished choral director, Maxine has provided choirs for both Andy Abrahams and Rod Stewart on their latest UK tours. Maxine Cherrie is passionate about choral music and looks to inspire her Rock Choir members with the same passion and shared love of singing.

    Glen Harvey

    Glen Harvey runs choirs in Basingstoke, Fleet/Hartley Wintney, Wokingham, Maidenhead and Windsor.

    Glen Harvey is a talented and charismatic performer with advanced skills as a vocalist, pianist and guitarist. He studied at the Academy of Contemporary Music where he gained a Higher Diploma and a BA Honours Degree. He has grown as a musician since reaching the semi-finals in the national TV singing competition ‘Pop Idol’ in 2003. He has performed to audiences of up to 20,000, and regularly performs all over the world with The London Essentials. He features on the first Rock Choir album as a soloist, and is a session vocalist, with work on the BBC. He also has taught at local schools including ACS International School in Egham. He feels personally enriched by his recent years of sharing and caring with his Hampshire and Berkshire Rock Choir members.

    Christina Clark

    Christina Clark runs choirs in Marylebone, Hampstead, Woodford/Wanstead and Ealing.

    Christina studied voice and piano gaining grades 8 and 7 certificates respectively from the Royal Academy of Music. With these classical achievements under her belt, Christina advanced her skills in contemporary music graduating with a BMus in Popular Music Performance at ‘Vocal Tech’.

    Since the start of her contemporary music studies Christina has worked and learned from world-renowned musicians, such as jazz ands wing singer Iain Mackenzie; vocalist and tutor Nikki Lamborn, the creator behind Shirley Bassey's ‘The Living Tree’ and Damon Albarn (Gorillaz and Blur) at the ‘Green Peace Anti-Nuclear Weapon’ gig.

    Christina’s vibrant and charismatic teaching style is key in the Rock Choir team and members love her fun sessions.

    Vikki Hewitt

    Vikki Hewitt runs choirs in Chichester, Bognor Regis, Horsham, Billingshurst, Littlehampton and Worthing.

    Since gaining her 1st Class BA Hons Degree Vikki Hewitt has been fortunate enough to sing backing vocals for artists such as Michael Ball and Beverly Knight, appeared on ITV, recorded at Abbey Road Studios with The ACM Gospel Choir and performed at prestigious venues like The O2 Arena (where she sang a solo) and The Royal Albert Hall. Trained in both singing and piano classically to grade 7, combining these disciplines led to a love of performing solo piano/vocal gigs and teaching contemporary music.

    Vikki says "Singing brings people together, it's great for your body and your soul and it's nearly impossible to leave a session without a smile on your face!"

    Daniel Ribbits

    Daniel Ribbits runs choirs in Witham, Colchester, Chelmsford, Braintree, Great Dunmow and Sudbury.

    He is an energetic, accomplished pianist of some 25 years, and also a keen saxophonist. After studying music at school Daniel chose to follow a professional training career but kept music as a passion outside of his working life. Daniel’s experience is with local amateur groups, musically directing shows such as Godspell and Jesus Christ Superstar as well many local pantomimes in Essex! Daniel is hoping his career in training will mean that he will be able to bring the best out of those people who join Rock Choir and that they will be able to enjoy the experience as much as he does!

  • Jennie Harwood

    Jennie Harwood runs choirs in Beeston, Belper, Derby, Mansfield and West Bridgford.

    Jennie is a talented multi-instrumentalist and singer, with a BA (Hons) in Popular Music Production. Throughout her life Jennie has been strongly influenced by her love for soul, jazz and blues music, and inspired by influential female singers such as Aretha Franklin, Ella Fitzgerald, Carole King, Eva Cassidy and Adele.

    Jennie has been singing in school performances and musicals since she was nine years old and has performed in gigs and festivals all around the country.

    Leading Rock Choir is a chance for Jennie to show how music can help you or change a situation or it can be linked to a significant moment in your life - as she says, "No matter how hard your day, you will feel better when you come out of a Rock Choir rehearsal!"

    Jan Moll

    Jan Moll runs choirs in Portsmouth, Chandlers Ford, Fareham, Winchester and Meon Valley.

    Jan is a multi-talented vocal coach and pianist with a wealth of experience performing in both Scotland and now the South of England. She trained at Dundee University with the acclaimed Judith Wilkes and has been teaching singing for over 15 years with many of her pupils going on to study in various London theatre schools.

    As well as being part of The Rock Choir team, Jan regularly performs with her jazz band, The Blue Stars, and on stage as a singer/actress at the Kings Theatre and Ferneham Hall. Listen to Jan perform the Adele hit 'Skyfall'

    Rowan Richards

    Rowan Richards is the Rock Choir leader for Shrewsbury and Telford. She graduated from Royal Holloway University of London with a 2:1 honours degree in Music, specialising in classical performance. She is an accomplished pianist, violin and singer, having won a choral scholarship to Royal Holloway Chapel Choir and a university instrumental scholarship for violin.

    After graduating, she gained a PGCE from the University of Cambridge where she sang with Queens College Choir, and became a Primary School Music Coordinator, teaching and leading childrens choirs before taking a career break to raise a family.

    Rowan is now an active musician and songwriter who enjoys teaching, performing and accompanying.She has performed at the Royal Albert Hall, sung at the Queen Mother's 100th Birthday celebrations and gained recognition for her songwriting, achieving a finalist position in the 'UK Songwriting Contest.'

    She is passionate about Rock Choir because it combines everything she loves to do, whilst offering the chance for a wonderful singing experience in her local community of Shropshire.

    Christa Hugo

    Christa Hugo runs choirs in Stourbridge/Dudley, Kidderminster/Bewdley, Redditch/Studley and Bromsgrove.

    Christa studied music at the University of Southampton and subsequently qualified as a secondary school music teacher at Bath Spa University College. She is a highly skilled and experienced all-round musician - having gained grade 8 distinctions in both piano and oboe at a young age, she has gone on to develop her skills in many diverse areas of music. Christa has many years’ experience of teaching music and, for the last six years, has worked extensively as a pianist in the ballet field, most notably with one of the leading vocational ballet schools in the UK.

    Christa has a real love of popular music in all its wonderful forms, and has sung lead in a variety of function bands. She is at her happiest when singing or listening to music, and this fuels Christa’s passion for Rock Choir. She aims to inspire members with her enthusiasm and musical prowess.

    Sarah Bryant

    Sarah Bryant runs choirs in Alton, Petersfield, Hook/Odiham and Camberley.

    Classically trained pianist, singer and self-confessed perfectionist Sarah Bryant has music running through her veins. Musical all her life, she tried every instrument going before meeting and falling in love with the piano. Influences such as Sara Bareilles and Newton Faulkner led her into contemporary music, and with 15 years of experience in music and performing arts under her belt, she joined Rock Choir in 2009.

    Since then she has displayed her passion for singing and performing, soloing at venues such as Winchester Cathedral and the Anvil theatre in Basingstoke, whilst continuing to teach privately.

    Performing gives you the kind of buzz you cannot get anywhere else, and Sarah loves to share that feeling with her members as they sing their hearts out and experience that buzz too.

    Georgie Standage

    Georgie Standage runs choirs in Epsom, Haslemere, Horsham and Reigate.

    Georgie began her musical training at age 5 progressing her singing in choirs and achieving grade 8 electronic organ. She graduated in Contemporary Vocals at the Academy of Contemporary Music, where she founded `Fever’ her function band. Many gigs and tours followed, notably Goodwood Festival of Speed, appearances on Welsh Television and performing for the King of Jordan at a family wedding.

    She teaches vocals and has also worked in the theatre as vocal coach on the musical `Head’. Georgie sessioned for the Company `Evera’ arranging for the TV presenter Kate Thornton. She also writes and arranges her own songs. Georgie was delighted to perform on the Coming Home Soldiers Tour with Rock Choir.

    Jenny Deacon

    Jenny Deacon runs choirs in Southampton, Bournemouth, the New Forest and Christchurch.

    Jenny has been highly committed to music for over 20 years, starting at the tender age of 4 on piano. Born and raised in Harrow, London she applied her enthusiasm of music towards being a multi-instrumentalist covering many instruments such as flute, piccolo, clarinet, saxophone (soprano, alto, and baritone), piano, steel pans, guitar and drums, of which she obtained many musical grades up to grade 8.

    Whilst studying Music at the University of Southampton, Jenny took part as a musician in the Concert Band, Wind Orchestra, Sinfonietta Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra, Jazz Orchestra and was an assistant conductor for the Concert band and Wind Orchestra for 2 years as well as taking the lead Musical Director Role for the Jazz Orchestra. As well as this, she performed on stage as an actress in many musical productions including You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, The Lion King, and Company, worked as MD for productions of Once on this Island, and Wicked, and also sang as lead vocalist in function bands.

    Working for Rock Choir has changed Jenny’s attitude towards her role in the music industry, as it made her truly understand how important it is to have people who are enthusiastic, kind, patient and genuinely passionate about what they do to help others achieve happiness in music. Jenny devotes herself to her Rock Choir members (and everyone she teaches) and takes part in a lot of community projects, concerts and fundraisers in each of her areas, as well as performing at fantastic national events such as the 2012 Olympic Torch Relay in Southampton, The London and Edinburgh Moonwalks and many more. Jenny also still sings professionally and has recently performed at the O2 arena.

    Sarah Stephens

    Sarah Stephens runs choirs in Hinckley, Leicester, Loughbourough and Lutterworth.

    Sarah is a highly talented and enthusiastic musician who graduated with a BMus (Hons) from the University of Birmingham and went on to complete a Postgraduate Diploma in Vocal Studies at Birmingham Conservatoire for which she was awarded a Distinction. She enjoys combining her passion for singing and teaching. She performs as a freelance soprano soloist and has performed throughout the country including at York Minster, Birmingham Symphony Hall, St Paul’s Cathedral and Westminster Abbey.

    Sarah Stephens has a wealth of experience as a conductor and teacher and loves using her energetic personality and expertise to enthuse singers and musicians of all ages and abilities. She is thrilled she can utilise all her musical skills and is delighted to bring Rock Choir to Leicestershire.

  • Andrew Small

    Andrew Small runs choirs in Brentwood, Chelmsford, Leigh-on-Sea and Wickford.

    He gained a 2.1 BA(Hons) in Music Composition at Coventry University, and is a highly skilled guitarist, pianist and vocalist with a wealth of experience ranging from musical theatre to song writing. Andrew has been signed to an Artist and Tour Management company with his band and has played to many thousands of people supporting big name acts including Jools Holland. He is also a freelance session musician and offers private tuition. Andrew was musically inspired by his parents at a very young age.

    Andrew believes Rock Choir to be his proudest achievement to date. He finds it extremely rewarding being able to bring the community together through music. His passions are teaching, singing and performing and Rock Choir enables him to do all of these.

    Stacey Rae Hobday

    Stacey Rae Hobday runs choirs in Poole, Weymouth, Dorchester and Bridport.

    A multitalented contemporary singer and vocal coach, Stacey  Rae Hobday has been playing the trumpet and tenor horn from the age of seven and singing in public from the tender age of 10! After gaining a BTEC National Diploma in Creative Music (Triple Distinction), a Foundation Degree in Music Design and Performance from Bournemouth University, and a BA (Hons) in Music from University of Southampton.

    Stacey Rae Hobday has performed around Europe alongside artists such as John Legend, George Benson, Norah Jones, Van Morrison, Alicia Keys, Mark Ronson and Gnarls Barkley.

    Being a Rock Choir leader means Stacey can share her knowledge and passion for music with people of all ages, making people smile and feel energised through song - as she says, "To have the opportunity to work within your passion is the best job you could have!"

    Adam Abo Henriksen

    Adam Abo Henriksen is the Rock Choir leader for Ipswich, Kesgrave/Woodbridge, Stowmarket and Bury St Edmunds. He is a grade eight pianist and singer with a background in classical and musical theatre performance. He has both performed in and taken the role of musical director for a variety of theatre company productions, and sings as part of a chamber choir.

    Adam also performs as part of The Old Telephone Exchange: a quartet which performs pieces from classic barbershop to contemporary arrangements at events that have included the Royal Opera House’s Thurrock Festival.

    Alongside his work as a musician, Adam has worked as an English teacher and also enjoys performing magic. He is delighted to be a part of Rock Choir and is proud to be a part of the musical community that it creates.

    Tom George

    Tom George runs choirs in Guildford, Farnham and Godalming.

    Tom has been teaching since 2004 specialising in vocal technical development and creative improvisation. He grew up listening to Aretha Franklin and James Brown and has been singing from the age of seven joining the school choir and testing out his musical talents. More recently, Tom graduated from the Academy of Contemporary Music.

    Tom has been a featured vocalist on top 40 hits around Europe and he brings a wealth of performance experience and energy to the Rock Choir team.

    In his career with Rock Choir Tom has led choirs at the Hammersmith Apollo, Liverpool Echo Arena, Wembley Arena, the O2 Arena and Wembley Stadium! He has also sung solos at a lot of these venues also showing off his talents not only as a choir leader but also as a performer. He has a huge commitment to the local comunity and the charities involved in those communities, regularly getting involved in running workshops and shows for local charities - the choirs Tom leads have been involved in raising over £250,000 in the time he has been looking after them.

    A skilled arranger, Tom is also responsible for all of the Teen Choir arrangements. He has led this choir to perform on stage at both Wembley Arena and O2 Arena, and coached many of the teen members to continue their development with music into further education and beyond in a professional capacity. Tom is also often responsible for leading training for the other Rock Choir leaders up and down the UK, calling upon his experience and expertise having been involved in Rock Choir from a very early stage.

    Katie Thomas

    Katie Thomas runs choirs in Cardiff, Llandaff, Penarth and Cyncoed.

    Katie Thomas is an energetic and talented musician who found the piano and singing before she could even walk! She was actively involved in music from a young age performing in many youth orchestras and ensembles on the piano, violin and flute (in which she holds certificates in grades 7, 8 and 8 respectively) at venues including St David’s Hall. Katie made the move from Cardiff to London and studied Music at Royal Holloway University of London and graduated with a BMus Hons in Music Performance.

    Katie has a wealth of performance experience around South Wales and London. After graduating she worked as a pianist/singer, performing in several high profile London venues as well as working as a freelance musician and tutor before making her move back to Cardiff to focus on her love of music and teaching. Katie is delighted to be working with Rock Choir and aims to inspire and bring together communities across Cardiff & Penarth through the great experiences and adventures that Rock Choir can provide.

     

    Kat Penn

    Kat Penn runs choirs in Newbury, Thatcham, Didcot and Wallingford.

    Kat is an accomplished and diverse musician. After achieving Grade 8 piano and Diploma qualifications in vocal and clarinet performance, she has performed in venues such as Symphony Hall, Birmingham and the Royal Albert Hall as part of the BBC proms. She graduated with a BA Honours in Music from the University of Nottingham where she had begun to explore performing music of more contemporary genres in several gigs and concerts.

    Alongside her vocal performances, Kat teaches singers of ranging abilities and has worked with several youth choirs in southern England. She is passionate about the way in which Rock Choir can be so uplifting on a social and personal level as well as offering an amazing musical experience.

    Since becoming a Rock Choir leader in 2012 Kat has been building a team of enthusiastic, caring singers in all areas of West Berkshire and South Oxfordshire. The team has shared in quality moments of music making, creating lifelong friendships and outstanding contributions to charities and communities.

    Chris Mutch

    Chris Mutch runs choirs in Aberdeen, Stonehaven and Inverurie.

    Chris graduated from Perth College UHI with a BA (Hons) in music performance. Chris began as a classical pianist before moving on to jazz and contemporary music. He has focused primarily on performance, playing around the country and reaching as far as California. Chris' musical inspiration is rooted in jazz, gospel and Motown, with favourite artists such as Oscar Peterson, Maroon 5 and Marvin Gaye influencing his personal style.

    Chris feels privileged to be part of the Rock Choir team, and he feels that helping people come together in singing and dancing in their communities is inspiring and motivating.

    Steve Brown

    Steve Brown is the Rock Choir leader for York, Northallerton, Malton and Selby. He is a professional composer and skilled multi-instrumentalist. A former Leeds College of Music student and avid Music Producer, Steve has composed music for BBC’s ‘The One Show’, ‘Songs of Praise’, ‘Rip-off Britain’, and a number of feature-length BBC/Sky films and documentaries. Steve extends his musical operations to teaching many aspects of the subject, from Music Theory to Piano, Guitar, Percussion and Vocals.

    Steve’s musical motivation is derived from an eclectic mix of classical composers, hit songwriters and modern day dance music artists. Rock Choir provides Steve with the platform to share his joy of music and passion for vocal harmony with its members, through the delivery of interactive, fun and productive sessions throughout North and West Yorkshire.

  • Tara Thompson

    Tara Thompson runs choirs in Lincoln, Newark/Southwell, Sleaford, Grantham and Louth. Tara is an energetic vocalist and vocal coach, born and bred in Lincolnshire. She has toured both nationally and internationally as part of an award-winning tribute duo who specialise in 1940s music, as well as modern popular music. She appeared on the BBC 1's hit show hosted by Graham Norton 'The One & Only' in 2008 in which she paid tribute to Britney Spears and studied alongside celebrity vocal coaches David & Carrie Grant. Tara has also appeared on screen in a BBC film of a Bernstein opera 'Trouble in Tahiti' in 2007. She has enjoyed a varied performing career all over the globe as far afield as India, performing on P&O's five star luxury cruise liner Ventura and is now looking forward to passing on her knowledge, experience and passion as a Rock Choir leader.

    Helen Jones

    Helen Jones runs choirs in Droitwich Spa, Great Malvern & Worcester.

    Helen is a talented multi-instrumentalist with three grade eight certificates and advanced piano skills. Having studied Performing at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, she went on to gain an Honours degree in Secondary Music Education from the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff.

    Helen has worked teaching music in schools, as an instrumental teacher for Birmingham Music Service and as a leader of children’s choirs across Worcestershire. Helen considers herself to be a pragmatic teacher and enjoys performing in ensembles and a function band on the sax. Being a Rock Choir leader enables Helen to bring her enthusiasm and passion for music to all members she encounters.

    Nik Haley

    Nik Haley runs choirs in Orpington, Tonbridge, Sevenoaks and Maidstone.

    Nik Haley is a talented composer, songwriter and musician who has worked with amateur and professional singers and musicians as a Musical Director, Composer, and Choir Leader. He holds a MMus degree in Composition for Film & Television from the London College of Music. He has worked with the Youth Music Theatre UK, the National Youth Music Theatre, London Community Gospel Choir, National Theatre and the BBC. His TV credits include shows on BBC, CBBC, ITV, Five, Dave and Disney Channel.

    Nik loves the spirit of energy, fun and enjoyment of music in Rock Choir and loves bringing his own passion and enthusiasm to the team.

    Anthony Seaman

    Anthony Seaman runs choirs in Liverpool Allerton, Birkenhead (Prenton), Maghull/Ormskirk, Southport, West Kirby and Formby/Crosby.

    Anthony is an extremely versatile musician and performer, who has been playing the guitar and singing in rock bands from a young age. He is also a classically trained singer and has performed solo roles with various operatic companies in the North West as well as singing with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir.

    Anthony has a BA in Music from the University of Bristol and taught music at the North Liverpool Academy for several years. It was while teaching that he discovered the thrill of directing choirs, and he is very excited about the opportunity of doing this with Rock Choir. He passionately believes in the benefits that singing can offer, building confidence, releasing stress and, through the community of Rock Choir, having a great time together!

    Pippa Gearing

    Pippa Gearing runs choirs in Hemel Hempstead/Berkhamsted, Dunstable/Luton, Amersham and Welwyn Garden City.

    She is an energetic and talented singer and pianist. She studied a degree in music at Manchester University where she gained a 1st class honours. After graduating, she enjoyed the lifestyle of a singer and performer on five star luxury cruise ships, travelling across the globe. She also spent a season in Lapland!

    Pippa Gearing now spends her free time as a session singer supporting a list of artists such as Scarlette Fever and Raya and has toured with acts supporting Simon Webbe from Blue and Journey South (X Factor). She also performs in “The Rockabellas”, a three part 1940s-style close harmony girl group. Her recent TV appearance featured her singing the national anthem live on Sky 1 at the Brands Hatch Grand Prix. She is delighted to be a Rock Choir leader and offering her unique energising personality to the Rock Choir members.

    Carrie Rawlings

    Carrie Rawlings runs choirs in Cambridge, Huntingdon and St Neots.

    She is a talented singer and pianist with a BA in Performing Arts from King Alfred’s College Winchester and a Post Graduate Diploma in Musical Theatre from Mountview in London. Her performance engagements have included singing as the support act to Gerry and the Pacemakers, alongside the writer of ‘Wicked’ Stephen Schwartz and debuting her one woman show ‘When I Was Young I Listened to The Radio’ at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival in Australia with headliner Olivia Newton-John. Her musical influences include everything from The Carpenters to Lily Allen and loves old and new music.

    Carrie enjoys what Rock Choir has to offer in Cambridgeshire from the new relationships she forms, the great music she teaches and ultimately seeing people having a good time each week.

    Rob Slater

    Rob Slater runs choirs in Ponteland, Newcastle, Gateshead/Washington and Sunderland.

    Rob Slater is a talented musician who plays piano/keyboard, vocals, guitar and drums. He completed his BA(Hons) in Music Performance at The UHI Millennium Institute in Perth, Scotland. Rob has been performing music for many years all over the North of Britain in original bands, function bands and has played in several musicals including Grease and The Phantom of the Opera. One of his most recent projects which he wrote and directed was an original production of Rocky the Musical. Rob has taught piano/keyboard for several years.

    Rob is very enthusiastic about being part of the Rock Choir team and loves how people who have not had experience in singing can get the chance to let their voices be heard in Rock Choir.

    Katie Hockley

    Katie Hockley runs choirs in Rochester, Kings Hill, Rainham, Gravesend and Maidstone.

    Katie Hockley is a classically trained pianist and vocalist, with a Higher Diploma from the Academy of Contemporary Music in Performance Vocals. She is an experienced session vocalist and has performed widely with live function bands across the South-East at various events. During her career to date, she has had the privilege of singing alongside Sam Brown, of Pink Floyd fame, and supported vocalist Patti Russo, of Meatloaf.

    Having also taught vocal ensembles and peripatetically, Katie is thrilled that, as a Rock Choir agent, she is able to combine her joy of teaching with her enthusiasm for performance. She loves Rock Choir as it is a unique environment in which she can utilise her passion for music to encourage fun, laughs and camaraderie; bringing energy to the Kent community.

  • Katy Seath

    Katy Seath runs choirs in Chiswick, High Wycombe, Beaconsfield, Hampstead and Gerrards Cross.

    Katy Seath is an accomplished singer, pianist and teacher. Having completed a drama degree at Manchester University, Katy went on to carve out a successful career with many highlights along the way. These include reaching the semi finals of national competition Urban Voice UK, performing for celebrities in professional gospel choir Citizen K, travelling abroad with award nominated group The Rockabellas and singing live on stage at the O2 with Rock Choir.

    She is also an ongoing lead vocalist for the group Bassistry, recording with some of the country’s finest musicians.
    As a teacher, Katy set up Colchester’s first ever youth choir, leads creative workshops as a performing arts specialist for company Artis and has been a singing teacher and coach – even helping Heart FM’s Toby Anstis to a part in West End show ‘Grease’.

    Hazel Neighbour

    Hazel Neighbour is the Rock Choir leader for Bedford, Hitchin and Milton Keynes. She is passionate about singing and music of any genre from classical to jazz. Hazel passed her grade 8 singing exam with distinction when she was 17 and was awarded her Music Performance diploma in singing in September 2014.

    Hazel has sung in a variety of choirs all of her life including chamber choirs, church choirs and a capella pop groups both in the UK and abroad. She spent 18 months in Paris studying with Wagnerian opera singer Howard Haskin. His teaching inspired her to move into opera and since moving back to the UK, has been involved in many operatic productions including the lead in the world premier of a comic feminist opera.

    Rock Choir for Hazel represents making singing fun and accessible to everyone. She feels singing in a choir is one of the best feelings in the world and that the strong sense of community you feel when you sing with one voice is incomparable.

    Elliot Sutcliffe

    Elliot Sutcliffe runs choirs in Bradford, Dewsbury, Halifax, Huddersfield, Harrogate and Keighley.

    Elliot is an extremely talented contemporary pianist with a BA (Hons) degree in Music Technology and Popular Music. In his adult life, he has performed Orff’s ‘Carmina Burana’ with The Burnley Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir. He has performed and trained with American gospel choir leader and member of ‘The Invitations’ Richie Pitts.

    He has lots of experience in various genres of live music, being a member of contemporary bands and choirs since the age of four and began leading choirs and bands in college. He’s gained a keen interest in teaching alongside performing. Elliot is delighted to be part of the Rock Choir team and is always excited to meet and teach new members in West Yorkshire.

    Jo Saville

    Jo Saville runs choirs in St Austell Bay, Truro, Liskeard and Saltash.

    After a musical youth of brass and ‘big’ banding, along with singing in choirs, gigging with a soul band and gaining grade 8 piano, Jo graduated from Exeter University with a BA in music. Here, she performed for the Queen as part of the University Saxophone Quartet and was the Musical Director of the Jazz Orchestra. Jo developed her love of singing by performing in a gospel choir, jazz quintet and stage productions.

    Following her PCGE, Jo has taught music in many schools and is able to inspire others. She strongly feels that music is a powerful, positive force and loves that singing is accessible to everyone. She is very excited about the future of Cornwall Rock Choir!

    Michael Childs

    Michael Childs runs choirs in Bath, Bristol, Cheltenham, Gloucester and Stroud.

    Michael Childs is a classically trained contemporary musician and composer, with grade 8 certificates in piano and trumpet, and studied at the Guildhall School of Music. He has many years' experience working as a keyboard player, has had two children's musicals published and a number of songs with Big Life music. He has run workshops for the education department of the Royal Opera House and has worked as a musical director in local theatre. He has a particular love of R&B and 70s soul music.

    He loves being part of the Rock Choir team being able to share his lifelong passion for music with his choirs.

    Rebecca Hitchcock

    Rebecca Hitchcock runs choirs in Caterham, Sanderstead, Purley, Beckenham and East Grinstead.

    Rebecca is a highly trained musician with grade 7 piano and singing and her musical interests are fantastically varied. She has 20 years’ experience as a pianist playing for local variety shows, weddings, wedding receptions, dinner parties and she is also an accomplished organist. She has sung in many choirs and assisted in training choristers for RSCM national awards.

    Rebecca teaches piano and takes her pupils to exam standard. She has a successful composition career arranging and writing award-winning music of all styles including solo and ensemble pieces for marching bands. Rebecca runs the Hove jazz band ‘The 6th Alumni’ in which she conducts, accompanies on the piano and plays Euphonium in the brass section!

    She has a strong passion for being part of Rock Choir and delights in teaching the members and brings the element of fun into the music.  

    Charlotte Jones

    Charlotte Jones is the Rock Choir leader for Ilkley, Leeds Alwoodley, Leeds Horsforth and Wakefield. She graduated from Leeds College of Music with a BA Honours Degree in Popular Music.

    She is a passionate singer-songwriter, backing vocalist, instrumentalist and music is something that excites and motivates her every day. She was headhunted to work on the X Factor, within the choir and as a backing singer, performing with number one selling artist James Arthur. She has recently been touring the UK with ‘Winter Springs’, a 6 piece harmony- led folk/pop collective as well as performing as a solo artist.

    Alongside her love for contemporary music, in her spare time, she has led and sung with gospel choirs and reached the finals of ‘BBC Choir of the year’ with ‘Sing It Gospel Choir’ in 2011. Charlotte is now over the moon to be working with Rock Choir loves to inspire members with her passion and beliefs in the power of singing.

    Jess Hunting

    Jess Hunting runs choirs in Northampton, Kettering, Market Harborough and Higham Ferrers.

    Jess is a talented and enthusiastic musician. Her passion for music started at the age of six when she started to learn the piano. Jessica has three Grade 8 certificates in voice, piano and French horn. During her time as a musician Jessica has performed at The Royal Festival Hall and The Royal Albert Hall.

    After graduating with a BMus honours in singing, Jessica went on to perform classical and contemporary music gigs around the country. As well as achieving a PGCE, she has a wealth of experience teaching singing to all ages and abilities.

    Jessica loves her job with Rock Choir as she gets to combine her love of teaching, singing and most importantly - fun!

  • Kate Threlfall

    Kate Threlfall runs choirs in Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley and Doncaster.

    Kate is a professional singer and pianist. Starting piano lessons at the age of five, she achieved Grade 8 with the London College of Music. Her passion for singing developed alongside and Kate became involved in local theatre productions, most notably playing lead role in ‘Watermark’ at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.

    She went on to train at The Italia Conti Theatre School in London and has since been a Redcoat for Butlins, Keyboard Vocalist in a band and has travelled the world as Principal Vocalist aboard luxury cruise liners. In 2004 Kate won the award of Best Female Vocalist with her own act. More recently she has been part of a four piece musical tribute to the West-End and Broadway.

    Kate is thrilled to be part of the Rock Choir team and loves inspiring others with her passion for music.

    Jim Hawkins

    Jim Hawkins runs choirs in Kingston, Orpington, Richmond, Wimbledon, Bromley and Teddington.

    Jim is a contemporary musician and composer and classically trained with an honours degree in Music and Music Technology awarded by Kingston University in 2001. Since leaving university, Jim has built a credible CV of musical composition and has had work broadcast on various TV channels including Discovery, Channel 5 and Channel 4.

    He has a passionate interest in the emotive value of music and its powerful effect on the human mind, and finds immense pleasure in encouraging learners to identify with expressive qualities in the music being performed. Jim has worked for many years as a keyboard player, pianist, drummer, vocalist, and was contracted as "speciality pianist" for Disney Cruise Lines in 2007. Since then he has performed regularly in major London hotels, bars and casinos both as a soloist and as part of the ‘Jim Hawkins Trio’.

    Jim is a valued, talented and exciting leader in the Rock Choir Team and regularly tells us “It's the best job in the world!”

    Elaine Williamson

    Elaine Williamson runs choirs in Glasgow, Newton Mearns, Edinburgh and Kirkintilloch.

    Elaine graduated with an BA(Hons) in music performance from the UHI Millennium Institute in Perth Scotland. She has a wealth of performance experience around Scotland, working as a session pianist/ keyboard player and vocalist for various artists as well as working as an events pianist in such places as Perth Concert Hall. She has also worked as a music lecturer in Perth College as well as being a freelance piano, vocal and music theory tutor.

    Elaine is an enthusiastic Musical Director and her most recent venture was MDing an original production of “Rocky the Musical” which she also co-wrote. She has a love of a variety of musical styles such as funk, soul, indie, rock and of course musical theatre.

    Elaine is passionate about the benefits people gain from of singing as part of a group and is extremely thrilled to be a part of the Rock Choir team. She is also particularly enthusiastic about making Rock Choir a success in bonny Scotland!

    Mike Tandy

    Mike Tandy runs choirs in Wisbech, Kings Lynn, Peterborough, Hunstanton and Downham Market.

    Mike Tandy achieved a degree in Popular Music after studying at both the Birmingham Conservatoire and the University of Wolverhampton. He has held the position of Musical Director for many theatre companies around the country, most recently for the Kings Lynn Operatic Society. His musical career so far has included spending many years working as Musical Director on cruise ships. He has also performing around the world with acts such as Jamie Cullum, Sam Kane (Brookside) and also the UK’s number one tribute to the Rat Pack.

    Lucy Hewes

    Lucy Hewes runs choirs in Reading, Henley and Ascot.

    Lucy Hewes has been playing the piano since the age of 5, discovering her vocal ability along the way. Graduating with first-class honours in Classical Piano Performance from the London College of Music, she has always been keen to keep her career exciting and diverse. Lucy's previous experience ranges from teaching singing and piano to appearing in the feature film of ‘Joseph’ and performing on stage at the Royal Albert Hall with the London Philharmonic Choir. She is also currently playing keyboards in the hit West End show Jersey Boys and the UK Tour of Priscilla the Musical. Lucy is thrilled to bring all of her talents and experience to the role of Rock Choir leader.

    Sam Smith

    Sam Smith runs choirs in Chobham, Epsom, Dorking, Esher and Weybridge.

    Sam Smith is a multi-talented contemporary performer and as a pianist and singer is a force to be reckoned with in the Rock Choir team. As well as gaining a degree in professional musicianship at B.I.M.M. (Brighton Institute of Modern Music) she previously won a music scholarship studying classical piano, flute, French horn and choral work.
    Along with being a Rock Choir leader, Sam also teaches one-to-one contemporary singing, and helps to train the music team behind the scenes at Rock Choir.

    Highlights of Sam's Rock Choir career include twice conducting at the Royal Albert Hall, touring with The Soldiers and singing solo at the O2! She is known to Rock Choir members as having endless enthusiasm and energy and her sessions leave everyone on a high!

    Suzie Anderson

    Suzie Anderson runs choirs in Abergavenny, Newport, Chepstow and Monmouth.

    Suzie Anderson is a smiley, talented and enthusiastic singer, pianist, violist and violinist. She graduated from the Royal College of Music with a Masters in Advanced Performance in 2009. She holds a BMus Hons from Goldsmiths College University of London as well as two Grade 8 Distinctions in voice and viola.

    She has had a colourful and varied career with a wonderful blend of orchestral and chamber work. She has performed extensively in some of the world’s most prestigious venues such as the Royal Albert Hall and the Cadogan Hall. She enjoys vocal work and helping to inspire the next generation’s musicians as a choir mistress, vocal coach, conductor, arranger, compositional coach, peripatetic and classroom teacher. To this, Rock Choir is the perfect complement.

    Abigail Harris

    Abigail Harris runs choirs in Hertford/Ware, Harpenden, St Albans and Watford.

    Classically trained, she is a talented contemporary musician with four Grade 8 certificates as an accomplished pianist, oboist and saxophonist. She graduated with honours from the Royal Academy of Music and has performed extensively in Britain, Russia and across Europe. She has enjoyed solo performances at The Royal Albert Hall, St Martin-in-the-fields and The Wigmore Hall in London.

    Abigail has won various awards for her classical skills including the ‘Sherrards and Observer Excellence Award’, the ‘Edith Oulten de Pauley Associated Board Prize’ and the ‘Guinness Music in Community Prize’. Alongside her love of contemporary and classical singing, Abbie enjoys teaching all ages and abilities, and is passionate that singing should be fun and accessible to everyone. Abigail is an asset to the Rock Choir Team and is loved by the members for her lovely personality and talent.

  • Angela Moran

    Angela Moran runs choirs in Banbury, Coventry, Kenilworth, Stratford-upon-Avon and Warwick.

    Angela Moran has a diploma in Piano from the London College of Music and a PhD in Music from Cambridge University. A published author and recognised expert in popular music, she also has grade 8 certificates in the violin and viola, and grade 6 in percussion. Twice performing at the Royal Albert Hall for the Last Night of the Schools Proms, and also as part of the world's largest orchestra at the Symphony Hall, Birmingham, Angela's background in singing and performance makes her ideal for the role of choir leader, and she is looking forward to sharing her passion for music with the world as part of Rock Choir!

    From teaching oral singing skills and running college choirs to lecturing in popular music and writing about Irish music, Angela is enthusiastic about a wide variety of music and is excited to bring her diverse range of skills and experience to the local community as a Rock Choir leader.

Michael Fricker

Michael Fricker runs choirs in Bexleyheath, Blackheath, Dulwich and Avery Hill/Eltham.

Michael Fricker graduated from the "Musikhochschule Zurich" in Switzerland before moving to the UK. In the last few years he has been busy playing concerts through Europe and has shared the stage with bands like "Kings Of Leon" and other international acts. He also has many years of experience in teaching music in secondary schools as well as leading different choirs, bands and musical workshops.

Michael is thrilled to bring his vast live experience into leading his choirs in Bexleyheath, Blackheath, Dulwich and Avery Hill/Eltham.

Stephanie Bailey

Stephanie Bailey runs choirs in Bridgend, Pontyclun and Cowbridge.

She is a talented singer and pianist who graduated with a BA Hons in Music at Kingston University. Continuing her studies back in Wales Stephanie gained a PGCE. With Grade 8 Distinctions in both Piano and Singing (ABRSM) Stephanie has performed as part of a choir ‘Camerata’ for the BBC, as well as accompanying and conducting various choirs in South Wales, performing in prestigious venues including St David’s Hall, Cardiff and Swansea Grand Theatre.

Stephanie Bailey is a talented musician and has enjoyed accompanying soloists Simone Rebello and Wynne Evans (The ' Go Compare' opera singer) in concert. With her diverse musical experience Stephanie is delighted to work with Rock Choir, sharing in its energy and enthusiasm as the team offer an exciting musical journey to all.

Sonia Eyre

Sonia Eyre runs choirs in Solihull, Birmingham, Lichfield and Sutton Coldfield.

Sonia Eyre is a classically trained singer who gained her Masters in Early Music Performance from the Trinity College of Music in London. Starting music at the tender age of six, Sonia learnt piano, violin and saxophone to grade 8 standard. She has been privileged to perform vocal solos in venues such as Birmingham Symphony Hall and Notre Dame, Paris. As well as performing regularly Sonia enjoys teaching all ages and abilities in the range of instruments that she offers.

Jennifer Sim

Jennifer Sim runs choirs in Milngavie, Bothwell, Hamilton, Glasgow, Largs, Kilmacolm and Greenock.

Jennifer has been performing at competition level since the age of 5 and has Grade 8 Piano and Grade 7 Violin. After being accepted into the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow, she achieved an Honours Degree at St. Andrews University. She competed for many years in the Inverclyde Music and National Mod festivals winning in vocal and instrumental performances. She loves amateur theatre and has twice performed at the Edinburgh Festival.

She's had many amazing opportunities to perform with Rock Choir since joining the team in January 2011. Jennifer's personal highlights have to include performing at Wembley Arena, The Royal Albert Hall, The Echo Arena  in Liverpool and at London's O2 Arena.

Jennifer has boundless energy and enthusiasm and is delighted to be offering more people in Scotland the opportunity to take part in Rock Choir!

Jonathan Grosberg

Jonathan Grosberg runs choirs in Canterbury, Deal, Ashford, Folkestone and Thanet.

Jonathan is a talented and enthusiastic pianist and composer with a 1st Class BA (Hons) in English and Drama from the University of Kent. He achieved Grade 8 in piano, has composed music for theatrical productions that have played to hundreds, and has led and sung in music groups in the UK and in the USA, where he studied Theatre at Pennsylvania State University.

Jonathan is passionate about writing songs, performing and enjoys teaching music to others. He is thoroughly excited to be a part of Rock Choir as it allows him to spread his joy of singing.

Ian Sainsbury

Ian Sainsbury runs choirs in Norwich, Beccles/Lowestoft and Wymondham.

After achieving a distinction at Grade 8 piano, Ian ran away from home to join the circus (Blackpool Tower – in the band!). A varied career as a singer, musician and comedian has taken him from London to Bangkok and from theatre tours to private parties for corporations and individuals, including Sir Paul McCartney. He loves to perform and his passion for music is infectious. 

Leading Rock Choir in East Anglia gives him the perfect excuse to share the amazing buzz of singing great songs together.

Ian says, "The response to Rock Choir in Norfolk and Suffolk has been fantastic. I think the fact that no one needs to audition attracts people who might otherwise be shy about trying a singing group. Everyone has a voice, and in Rock Choir there's no pressure, just a nurturing, fun, learning environment where anyone can discover - or rediscover - the  joy of singing. Wonderful friendships have been made along the way, because we're all here to sing and have fun together. Every session ends with a group of happy, buzzing people, batteries recharged and ready for anything!"

Elle Williams

Elle Williams runs choirs in Exeter, Newton Abbot and Plymouth.

A classically trained singer and pianist, Elle graduated with a BMus (Hons) from the University of Birmingham in 2004, going on to complete a PGCE in Secondary Music at the University of Bristol.

Together with her teaching, Elle also enjoys a varied performance career. Working both as a classical soloist and as a member of several choral groups throughout Devon, she has performed across the UK, including appearances at the Royal Festival Hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall and Exeter Cathedral.

Both a passionate teacher and performer, Elle has a wealth of experience and is delighted to be part of the Rock Choir team.

Natasha Willis

Natasha Willis runs choirs in Ringwood, Romsey, Christchurch & Salisbury.

Natasha is an enthusiastic and talented musician, with Grade 8 Singing and Piano and a Masters in Music Performance from Southampton University. Her performance career has been exciting and varied, including Choral Church Scholarships, Musical Theatre roles, a capella groups and various funk and rock bands.

Natasha Willis also loves teaching, and has musically directed choirs and musical theatre shows in the Southampton area. She is thrilled to be able to offer her skills as a Rock Choir leader and encourages the people of Great Britain to sing up, join in and become rock stars!

Phil Reynolds

Phil Reynolds runs choirs in Tameside/Hyde, Rochdale/Littleborough, Middleton, Norden/Bamford and Saddleworth/Oldham.

He is a multi-instrumentalist spanning a range of styles from classical to contemporary. He graduated with honours from the Royal Academy of Music, and has performed with some of the world’s top classical, theatre and pop stars in the UK and abroad (including South Africa, Europe, USA, Bermuda and the Far East). Professional work includes Sunset Boulevard, Oliver and Chicago with artists including Glenn Close, Elaine Paige,  John Barrowman, Ruthie Henshall & Paul O’Grady.

Phil Reynolds has worked with The Philharmonia, London Virtuosi, London Pops, and Royal Philharmonic Orchestras, appearing on many professional recordings.

Phil has taught music for over ten years. He’s delighted to be bringing all this experience to his role as a Rock Choir leader, believing singing is for everyone.

Charlotte Fane

Charlotte Fane runs choirs in Hove, Brighton, Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill, Eastbourne and Lewes.

Charlotte graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in 2003 with a BMus Honours, Grade 8 Singing and Grade 7 Piano. She has performed with amateur and professional companies and regularly sings with close harmony trio The Doo Wop Dolls.

Charlotte teaches at various schools and theatre schools in East Sussex as well as having her own private teaching practice. She ran the Stagecoach Regional choir for the South East who performed at events at the Royal Albert Hall and Birmingham Symphony Hall. Highly motivated by all types of music, Charlotte enjoys teaching and believes that everyone can sing. Rock Choir is a fantastic opportunity for everyone to be a star and Charlotte enjoys bringing the Rock back into Brighton.

Kathryn Davies

Kathryn Davies runs choirs in Warrington, Chester, Knutsford and Nantwich/Crewe.

Kathryn trained at Mountview Theatre School gaining a BA(hons) Performance. Since graduating she has appeared in a number of productions both internationally and in the UK, most notably the West End production of Blood Brothers. She is a talented vocal coach with many of her pupils following in her footsteps to train at London Drama Schools. She recently gained an ALCM(TD) in Musical Theatre and runs West End Workshop North Wales during the summer months.

Kathryn is delighted to be part of the Rock Choir family and can’t wait to bring her energetic personality and voice to her members.

Maxine Cherrie

Maxine Cherrie runs choirs in Bury/Bolton, Altrincham/Sale, Worsley and Wilmslow.

Maxine started her musical studies at a young age and before long was awarded a scholarship to attend the Royal Academy of Music part-time, followed by a full-time scholarship at the Purcell School of Music. She furthered her studies at the Royal Northern College of Music before switching her route from Classical to Contemporary by attending Salford University where she pursued a qualification in Popular Music with Recording techniques.

Maxine Cherrie has a wealth of performance experience both as a professional vocalist and dancer. An accomplished choral director, Maxine has provided choirs for both Andy Abrahams and Rod Stewart on their latest UK tours. Maxine Cherrie is passionate about choral music and looks to inspire her Rock Choir members with the same passion and shared love of singing.

Glen Harvey

Glen Harvey runs choirs in Basingstoke, Fleet/Hartley Wintney, Wokingham, Maidenhead and Windsor.

Glen Harvey is a talented and charismatic performer with advanced skills as a vocalist, pianist and guitarist. He studied at the Academy of Contemporary Music where he gained a Higher Diploma and a BA Honours Degree. He has grown as a musician since reaching the semi-finals in the national TV singing competition ‘Pop Idol’ in 2003. He has performed to audiences of up to 20,000, and regularly performs all over the world with The London Essentials. He features on the first Rock Choir album as a soloist, and is a session vocalist, with work on the BBC. He also has taught at local schools including ACS International School in Egham. He feels personally enriched by his recent years of sharing and caring with his Hampshire and Berkshire Rock Choir members.

Christina Clark

Christina Clark runs choirs in Marylebone, Hampstead, Woodford/Wanstead and Ealing.

Christina studied voice and piano gaining grades 8 and 7 certificates respectively from the Royal Academy of Music. With these classical achievements under her belt, Christina advanced her skills in contemporary music graduating with a BMus in Popular Music Performance at ‘Vocal Tech’.

Since the start of her contemporary music studies Christina has worked and learned from world-renowned musicians, such as jazz ands wing singer Iain Mackenzie; vocalist and tutor Nikki Lamborn, the creator behind Shirley Bassey's ‘The Living Tree’ and Damon Albarn (Gorillaz and Blur) at the ‘Green Peace Anti-Nuclear Weapon’ gig.

Christina’s vibrant and charismatic teaching style is key in the Rock Choir team and members love her fun sessions.

Vikki Hewitt

Vikki Hewitt runs choirs in Chichester, Bognor Regis, Horsham, Billingshurst, Littlehampton and Worthing.

Since gaining her 1st Class BA Hons Degree Vikki Hewitt has been fortunate enough to sing backing vocals for artists such as Michael Ball and Beverly Knight, appeared on ITV, recorded at Abbey Road Studios with The ACM Gospel Choir and performed at prestigious venues like The O2 Arena (where she sang a solo) and The Royal Albert Hall. Trained in both singing and piano classically to grade 7, combining these disciplines led to a love of performing solo piano/vocal gigs and teaching contemporary music.

Vikki says "Singing brings people together, it's great for your body and your soul and it's nearly impossible to leave a session without a smile on your face!"

Daniel Ribbits

Daniel Ribbits runs choirs in Witham, Colchester, Chelmsford, Braintree, Great Dunmow and Sudbury.

He is an energetic, accomplished pianist of some 25 years, and also a keen saxophonist. After studying music at school Daniel chose to follow a professional training career but kept music as a passion outside of his working life. Daniel’s experience is with local amateur groups, musically directing shows such as Godspell and Jesus Christ Superstar as well many local pantomimes in Essex! Daniel is hoping his career in training will mean that he will be able to bring the best out of those people who join Rock Choir and that they will be able to enjoy the experience as much as he does!

Jennie Harwood

Jennie Harwood runs choirs in Beeston, Belper, Derby, Mansfield and West Bridgford.

Jennie is a talented multi-instrumentalist and singer, with a BA (Hons) in Popular Music Production. Throughout her life Jennie has been strongly influenced by her love for soul, jazz and blues music, and inspired by influential female singers such as Aretha Franklin, Ella Fitzgerald, Carole King, Eva Cassidy and Adele.

Jennie has been singing in school performances and musicals since she was nine years old and has performed in gigs and festivals all around the country.

Leading Rock Choir is a chance for Jennie to show how music can help you or change a situation or it can be linked to a significant moment in your life - as she says, "No matter how hard your day, you will feel better when you come out of a Rock Choir rehearsal!"

Jan Moll

Jan Moll runs choirs in Portsmouth, Chandlers Ford, Fareham, Winchester and Meon Valley.

Jan is a multi-talented vocal coach and pianist with a wealth of experience performing in both Scotland and now the South of England. She trained at Dundee University with the acclaimed Judith Wilkes and has been teaching singing for over 15 years with many of her pupils going on to study in various London theatre schools.

As well as being part of The Rock Choir team, Jan regularly performs with her jazz band, The Blue Stars, and on stage as a singer/actress at the Kings Theatre and Ferneham Hall. Listen to Jan perform the Adele hit 'Skyfall'

Rowan Richards

Rowan Richards is the Rock Choir leader for Shrewsbury and Telford. She graduated from Royal Holloway University of London with a 2:1 honours degree in Music, specialising in classical performance. She is an accomplished pianist, violin and singer, having won a choral scholarship to Royal Holloway Chapel Choir and a university instrumental scholarship for violin.

After graduating, she gained a PGCE from the University of Cambridge where she sang with Queens College Choir, and became a Primary School Music Coordinator, teaching and leading childrens choirs before taking a career break to raise a family.

Rowan is now an active musician and songwriter who enjoys teaching, performing and accompanying.She has performed at the Royal Albert Hall, sung at the Queen Mother's 100th Birthday celebrations and gained recognition for her songwriting, achieving a finalist position in the 'UK Songwriting Contest.'

She is passionate about Rock Choir because it combines everything she loves to do, whilst offering the chance for a wonderful singing experience in her local community of Shropshire.

Christa Hugo

Christa Hugo runs choirs in Stourbridge/Dudley, Kidderminster/Bewdley, Redditch/Studley and Bromsgrove.

Christa studied music at the University of Southampton and subsequently qualified as a secondary school music teacher at Bath Spa University College. She is a highly skilled and experienced all-round musician - having gained grade 8 distinctions in both piano and oboe at a young age, she has gone on to develop her skills in many diverse areas of music. Christa has many years’ experience of teaching music and, for the last six years, has worked extensively as a pianist in the ballet field, most notably with one of the leading vocational ballet schools in the UK.

Christa has a real love of popular music in all its wonderful forms, and has sung lead in a variety of function bands. She is at her happiest when singing or listening to music, and this fuels Christa’s passion for Rock Choir. She aims to inspire members with her enthusiasm and musical prowess.

Sarah Bryant

Sarah Bryant runs choirs in Alton, Petersfield, Hook/Odiham and Camberley.

Classically trained pianist, singer and self-confessed perfectionist Sarah Bryant has music running through her veins. Musical all her life, she tried every instrument going before meeting and falling in love with the piano. Influences such as Sara Bareilles and Newton Faulkner led her into contemporary music, and with 15 years of experience in music and performing arts under her belt, she joined Rock Choir in 2009.

Since then she has displayed her passion for singing and performing, soloing at venues such as Winchester Cathedral and the Anvil theatre in Basingstoke, whilst continuing to teach privately.

Performing gives you the kind of buzz you cannot get anywhere else, and Sarah loves to share that feeling with her members as they sing their hearts out and experience that buzz too.

Georgie Standage

Georgie Standage runs choirs in Epsom, Haslemere, Horsham and Reigate.

Georgie began her musical training at age 5 progressing her singing in choirs and achieving grade 8 electronic organ. She graduated in Contemporary Vocals at the Academy of Contemporary Music, where she founded `Fever’ her function band. Many gigs and tours followed, notably Goodwood Festival of Speed, appearances on Welsh Television and performing for the King of Jordan at a family wedding.

She teaches vocals and has also worked in the theatre as vocal coach on the musical `Head’. Georgie sessioned for the Company `Evera’ arranging for the TV presenter Kate Thornton. She also writes and arranges her own songs. Georgie was delighted to perform on the Coming Home Soldiers Tour with Rock Choir.

Jenny Deacon

Jenny Deacon runs choirs in Southampton, Bournemouth, the New Forest and Christchurch.

Jenny has been highly committed to music for over 20 years, starting at the tender age of 4 on piano. Born and raised in Harrow, London she applied her enthusiasm of music towards being a multi-instrumentalist covering many instruments such as flute, piccolo, clarinet, saxophone (soprano, alto, and baritone), piano, steel pans, guitar and drums, of which she obtained many musical grades up to grade 8.

Whilst studying Music at the University of Southampton, Jenny took part as a musician in the Concert Band, Wind Orchestra, Sinfonietta Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra, Jazz Orchestra and was an assistant conductor for the Concert band and Wind Orchestra for 2 years as well as taking the lead Musical Director Role for the Jazz Orchestra. As well as this, she performed on stage as an actress in many musical productions including You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, The Lion King, and Company, worked as MD for productions of Once on this Island, and Wicked, and also sang as lead vocalist in function bands.

Working for Rock Choir has changed Jenny’s attitude towards her role in the music industry, as it made her truly understand how important it is to have people who are enthusiastic, kind, patient and genuinely passionate about what they do to help others achieve happiness in music. Jenny devotes herself to her Rock Choir members (and everyone she teaches) and takes part in a lot of community projects, concerts and fundraisers in each of her areas, as well as performing at fantastic national events such as the 2012 Olympic Torch Relay in Southampton, The London and Edinburgh Moonwalks and many more. Jenny also still sings professionally and has recently performed at the O2 arena.

Sarah Stephens

Sarah Stephens runs choirs in Hinckley, Leicester, Loughbourough and Lutterworth.

Sarah is a highly talented and enthusiastic musician who graduated with a BMus (Hons) from the University of Birmingham and went on to complete a Postgraduate Diploma in Vocal Studies at Birmingham Conservatoire for which she was awarded a Distinction. She enjoys combining her passion for singing and teaching. She performs as a freelance soprano soloist and has performed throughout the country including at York Minster, Birmingham Symphony Hall, St Paul’s Cathedral and Westminster Abbey.

Sarah Stephens has a wealth of experience as a conductor and teacher and loves using her energetic personality and expertise to enthuse singers and musicians of all ages and abilities. She is thrilled she can utilise all her musical skills and is delighted to bring Rock Choir to Leicestershire.

Andrew Small

Andrew Small runs choirs in Brentwood, Chelmsford, Leigh-on-Sea and Wickford.

He gained a 2.1 BA(Hons) in Music Composition at Coventry University, and is a highly skilled guitarist, pianist and vocalist with a wealth of experience ranging from musical theatre to song writing. Andrew has been signed to an Artist and Tour Management company with his band and has played to many thousands of people supporting big name acts including Jools Holland. He is also a freelance session musician and offers private tuition. Andrew was musically inspired by his parents at a very young age.

Andrew believes Rock Choir to be his proudest achievement to date. He finds it extremely rewarding being able to bring the community together through music. His passions are teaching, singing and performing and Rock Choir enables him to do all of these.

Stacey Rae Hobday

Stacey Rae Hobday runs choirs in Poole, Weymouth, Dorchester and Bridport.

A multitalented contemporary singer and vocal coach, Stacey  Rae Hobday has been playing the trumpet and tenor horn from the age of seven and singing in public from the tender age of 10! After gaining a BTEC National Diploma in Creative Music (Triple Distinction), a Foundation Degree in Music Design and Performance from Bournemouth University, and a BA (Hons) in Music from University of Southampton.

Stacey Rae Hobday has performed around Europe alongside artists such as John Legend, George Benson, Norah Jones, Van Morrison, Alicia Keys, Mark Ronson and Gnarls Barkley.

Being a Rock Choir leader means Stacey can share her knowledge and passion for music with people of all ages, making people smile and feel energised through song - as she says, "To have the opportunity to work within your passion is the best job you could have!"

Adam Abo Henriksen

Adam Abo Henriksen is the Rock Choir leader for Ipswich, Kesgrave/Woodbridge, Stowmarket and Bury St Edmunds. He is a grade eight pianist and singer with a background in classical and musical theatre performance. He has both performed in and taken the role of musical director for a variety of theatre company productions, and sings as part of a chamber choir.

Adam also performs as part of The Old Telephone Exchange: a quartet which performs pieces from classic barbershop to contemporary arrangements at events that have included the Royal Opera House’s Thurrock Festival.

Alongside his work as a musician, Adam has worked as an English teacher and also enjoys performing magic. He is delighted to be a part of Rock Choir and is proud to be a part of the musical community that it creates.

Tom George

Tom George runs choirs in Guildford, Farnham and Godalming.

Tom has been teaching since 2004 specialising in vocal technical development and creative improvisation. He grew up listening to Aretha Franklin and James Brown and has been singing from the age of seven joining the school choir and testing out his musical talents. More recently, Tom graduated from the Academy of Contemporary Music.

Tom has been a featured vocalist on top 40 hits around Europe and he brings a wealth of performance experience and energy to the Rock Choir team.

In his career with Rock Choir Tom has led choirs at the Hammersmith Apollo, Liverpool Echo Arena, Wembley Arena, the O2 Arena and Wembley Stadium! He has also sung solos at a lot of these venues also showing off his talents not only as a choir leader but also as a performer. He has a huge commitment to the local comunity and the charities involved in those communities, regularly getting involved in running workshops and shows for local charities - the choirs Tom leads have been involved in raising over £250,000 in the time he has been looking after them.

A skilled arranger, Tom is also responsible for all of the Teen Choir arrangements. He has led this choir to perform on stage at both Wembley Arena and O2 Arena, and coached many of the teen members to continue their development with music into further education and beyond in a professional capacity. Tom is also often responsible for leading training for the other Rock Choir leaders up and down the UK, calling upon his experience and expertise having been involved in Rock Choir from a very early stage.

Katie Thomas

Katie Thomas runs choirs in Cardiff, Llandaff, Penarth and Cyncoed.

Katie Thomas is an energetic and talented musician who found the piano and singing before she could even walk! She was actively involved in music from a young age performing in many youth orchestras and ensembles on the piano, violin and flute (in which she holds certificates in grades 7, 8 and 8 respectively) at venues including St David’s Hall. Katie made the move from Cardiff to London and studied Music at Royal Holloway University of London and graduated with a BMus Hons in Music Performance.

Katie has a wealth of performance experience around South Wales and London. After graduating she worked as a pianist/singer, performing in several high profile London venues as well as working as a freelance musician and tutor before making her move back to Cardiff to focus on her love of music and teaching. Katie is delighted to be working with Rock Choir and aims to inspire and bring together communities across Cardiff & Penarth through the great experiences and adventures that Rock Choir can provide.

 

Kat Penn

Kat Penn runs choirs in Newbury, Thatcham, Didcot and Wallingford.

Kat is an accomplished and diverse musician. After achieving Grade 8 piano and Diploma qualifications in vocal and clarinet performance, she has performed in venues such as Symphony Hall, Birmingham and the Royal Albert Hall as part of the BBC proms. She graduated with a BA Honours in Music from the University of Nottingham where she had begun to explore performing music of more contemporary genres in several gigs and concerts.

Alongside her vocal performances, Kat teaches singers of ranging abilities and has worked with several youth choirs in southern England. She is passionate about the way in which Rock Choir can be so uplifting on a social and personal level as well as offering an amazing musical experience.

Since becoming a Rock Choir leader in 2012 Kat has been building a team of enthusiastic, caring singers in all areas of West Berkshire and South Oxfordshire. The team has shared in quality moments of music making, creating lifelong friendships and outstanding contributions to charities and communities.

Chris Mutch

Chris Mutch runs choirs in Aberdeen, Stonehaven and Inverurie.

Chris graduated from Perth College UHI with a BA (Hons) in music performance. Chris began as a classical pianist before moving on to jazz and contemporary music. He has focused primarily on performance, playing around the country and reaching as far as California. Chris' musical inspiration is rooted in jazz, gospel and Motown, with favourite artists such as Oscar Peterson, Maroon 5 and Marvin Gaye influencing his personal style.

Chris feels privileged to be part of the Rock Choir team, and he feels that helping people come together in singing and dancing in their communities is inspiring and motivating.

Steve Brown

Steve Brown is the Rock Choir leader for York, Northallerton, Malton and Selby. He is a professional composer and skilled multi-instrumentalist. A former Leeds College of Music student and avid Music Producer, Steve has composed music for BBC’s ‘The One Show’, ‘Songs of Praise’, ‘Rip-off Britain’, and a number of feature-length BBC/Sky films and documentaries. Steve extends his musical operations to teaching many aspects of the subject, from Music Theory to Piano, Guitar, Percussion and Vocals.

Steve’s musical motivation is derived from an eclectic mix of classical composers, hit songwriters and modern day dance music artists. Rock Choir provides Steve with the platform to share his joy of music and passion for vocal harmony with its members, through the delivery of interactive, fun and productive sessions throughout North and West Yorkshire.

Tara Thompson

Tara Thompson runs choirs in Lincoln, Newark/Southwell, Sleaford, Grantham and Louth. Tara is an energetic vocalist and vocal coach, born and bred in Lincolnshire. She has toured both nationally and internationally as part of an award-winning tribute duo who specialise in 1940s music, as well as modern popular music. She appeared on the BBC 1's hit show hosted by Graham Norton 'The One & Only' in 2008 in which she paid tribute to Britney Spears and studied alongside celebrity vocal coaches David & Carrie Grant. Tara has also appeared on screen in a BBC film of a Bernstein opera 'Trouble in Tahiti' in 2007. She has enjoyed a varied performing career all over the globe as far afield as India, performing on P&O's five star luxury cruise liner Ventura and is now looking forward to passing on her knowledge, experience and passion as a Rock Choir leader.

Helen Jones

Helen Jones runs choirs in Droitwich Spa, Great Malvern & Worcester.

Helen is a talented multi-instrumentalist with three grade eight certificates and advanced piano skills. Having studied Performing at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, she went on to gain an Honours degree in Secondary Music Education from the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff.

Helen has worked teaching music in schools, as an instrumental teacher for Birmingham Music Service and as a leader of children’s choirs across Worcestershire. Helen considers herself to be a pragmatic teacher and enjoys performing in ensembles and a function band on the sax. Being a Rock Choir leader enables Helen to bring her enthusiasm and passion for music to all members she encounters.

Nik Haley

Nik Haley runs choirs in Orpington, Tonbridge, Sevenoaks and Maidstone.

Nik Haley is a talented composer, songwriter and musician who has worked with amateur and professional singers and musicians as a Musical Director, Composer, and Choir Leader. He holds a MMus degree in Composition for Film & Television from the London College of Music. He has worked with the Youth Music Theatre UK, the National Youth Music Theatre, London Community Gospel Choir, National Theatre and the BBC. His TV credits include shows on BBC, CBBC, ITV, Five, Dave and Disney Channel.

Nik loves the spirit of energy, fun and enjoyment of music in Rock Choir and loves bringing his own passion and enthusiasm to the team.

Anthony Seaman

Anthony Seaman runs choirs in Liverpool Allerton, Birkenhead (Prenton), Maghull/Ormskirk, Southport, West Kirby and Formby/Crosby.

Anthony is an extremely versatile musician and performer, who has been playing the guitar and singing in rock bands from a young age. He is also a classically trained singer and has performed solo roles with various operatic companies in the North West as well as singing with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir.

Anthony has a BA in Music from the University of Bristol and taught music at the North Liverpool Academy for several years. It was while teaching that he discovered the thrill of directing choirs, and he is very excited about the opportunity of doing this with Rock Choir. He passionately believes in the benefits that singing can offer, building confidence, releasing stress and, through the community of Rock Choir, having a great time together!

Pippa Gearing

Pippa Gearing runs choirs in Hemel Hempstead/Berkhamsted, Dunstable/Luton, Amersham and Welwyn Garden City.

She is an energetic and talented singer and pianist. She studied a degree in music at Manchester University where she gained a 1st class honours. After graduating, she enjoyed the lifestyle of a singer and performer on five star luxury cruise ships, travelling across the globe. She also spent a season in Lapland!

Pippa Gearing now spends her free time as a session singer supporting a list of artists such as Scarlette Fever and Raya and has toured with acts supporting Simon Webbe from Blue and Journey South (X Factor). She also performs in “The Rockabellas”, a three part 1940s-style close harmony girl group. Her recent TV appearance featured her singing the national anthem live on Sky 1 at the Brands Hatch Grand Prix. She is delighted to be a Rock Choir leader and offering her unique energising personality to the Rock Choir members.

Carrie Rawlings

Carrie Rawlings runs choirs in Cambridge, Huntingdon and St Neots.

She is a talented singer and pianist with a BA in Performing Arts from King Alfred’s College Winchester and a Post Graduate Diploma in Musical Theatre from Mountview in London. Her performance engagements have included singing as the support act to Gerry and the Pacemakers, alongside the writer of ‘Wicked’ Stephen Schwartz and debuting her one woman show ‘When I Was Young I Listened to The Radio’ at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival in Australia with headliner Olivia Newton-John. Her musical influences include everything from The Carpenters to Lily Allen and loves old and new music.

Carrie enjoys what Rock Choir has to offer in Cambridgeshire from the new relationships she forms, the great music she teaches and ultimately seeing people having a good time each week.

Rob Slater

Rob Slater runs choirs in Ponteland, Newcastle, Gateshead/Washington and Sunderland.

Rob Slater is a talented musician who plays piano/keyboard, vocals, guitar and drums. He completed his BA(Hons) in Music Performance at The UHI Millennium Institute in Perth, Scotland. Rob has been performing music for many years all over the North of Britain in original bands, function bands and has played in several musicals including Grease and The Phantom of the Opera. One of his most recent projects which he wrote and directed was an original production of Rocky the Musical. Rob has taught piano/keyboard for several years.

Rob is very enthusiastic about being part of the Rock Choir team and loves how people who have not had experience in singing can get the chance to let their voices be heard in Rock Choir.

Katie Hockley

Katie Hockley runs choirs in Rochester, Kings Hill, Rainham, Gravesend and Maidstone.

Katie Hockley is a classically trained pianist and vocalist, with a Higher Diploma from the Academy of Contemporary Music in Performance Vocals. She is an experienced session vocalist and has performed widely with live function bands across the South-East at various events. During her career to date, she has had the privilege of singing alongside Sam Brown, of Pink Floyd fame, and supported vocalist Patti Russo, of Meatloaf.

Having also taught vocal ensembles and peripatetically, Katie is thrilled that, as a Rock Choir agent, she is able to combine her joy of teaching with her enthusiasm for performance. She loves Rock Choir as it is a unique environment in which she can utilise her passion for music to encourage fun, laughs and camaraderie; bringing energy to the Kent community.

Katy Seath

Katy Seath runs choirs in Chiswick, High Wycombe, Beaconsfield, Hampstead and Gerrards Cross.

Katy Seath is an accomplished singer, pianist and teacher. Having completed a drama degree at Manchester University, Katy went on to carve out a successful career with many highlights along the way. These include reaching the semi finals of national competition Urban Voice UK, performing for celebrities in professional gospel choir Citizen K, travelling abroad with award nominated group The Rockabellas and singing live on stage at the O2 with Rock Choir.

She is also an ongoing lead vocalist for the group Bassistry, recording with some of the country’s finest musicians.
As a teacher, Katy set up Colchester’s first ever youth choir, leads creative workshops as a performing arts specialist for company Artis and has been a singing teacher and coach – even helping Heart FM’s Toby Anstis to a part in West End show ‘Grease’.

Hazel Neighbour

Hazel Neighbour is the Rock Choir leader for Bedford, Hitchin and Milton Keynes. She is passionate about singing and music of any genre from classical to jazz. Hazel passed her grade 8 singing exam with distinction when she was 17 and was awarded her Music Performance diploma in singing in September 2014.

Hazel has sung in a variety of choirs all of her life including chamber choirs, church choirs and a capella pop groups both in the UK and abroad. She spent 18 months in Paris studying with Wagnerian opera singer Howard Haskin. His teaching inspired her to move into opera and since moving back to the UK, has been involved in many operatic productions including the lead in the world premier of a comic feminist opera.

Rock Choir for Hazel represents making singing fun and accessible to everyone. She feels singing in a choir is one of the best feelings in the world and that the strong sense of community you feel when you sing with one voice is incomparable.

Elliot Sutcliffe

Elliot Sutcliffe runs choirs in Bradford, Dewsbury, Halifax, Huddersfield, Harrogate and Keighley.

Elliot is an extremely talented contemporary pianist with a BA (Hons) degree in Music Technology and Popular Music. In his adult life, he has performed Orff’s ‘Carmina Burana’ with The Burnley Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir. He has performed and trained with American gospel choir leader and member of ‘The Invitations’ Richie Pitts.

He has lots of experience in various genres of live music, being a member of contemporary bands and choirs since the age of four and began leading choirs and bands in college. He’s gained a keen interest in teaching alongside performing. Elliot is delighted to be part of the Rock Choir team and is always excited to meet and teach new members in West Yorkshire.

Jo Saville

Jo Saville runs choirs in St Austell Bay, Truro, Liskeard and Saltash.

After a musical youth of brass and ‘big’ banding, along with singing in choirs, gigging with a soul band and gaining grade 8 piano, Jo graduated from Exeter University with a BA in music. Here, she performed for the Queen as part of the University Saxophone Quartet and was the Musical Director of the Jazz Orchestra. Jo developed her love of singing by performing in a gospel choir, jazz quintet and stage productions.

Following her PCGE, Jo has taught music in many schools and is able to inspire others. She strongly feels that music is a powerful, positive force and loves that singing is accessible to everyone. She is very excited about the future of Cornwall Rock Choir!

Michael Childs

Michael Childs runs choirs in Bath, Bristol, Cheltenham, Gloucester and Stroud.

Michael Childs is a classically trained contemporary musician and composer, with grade 8 certificates in piano and trumpet, and studied at the Guildhall School of Music. He has many years' experience working as a keyboard player, has had two children's musicals published and a number of songs with Big Life music. He has run workshops for the education department of the Royal Opera House and has worked as a musical director in local theatre. He has a particular love of R&B and 70s soul music.

He loves being part of the Rock Choir team being able to share his lifelong passion for music with his choirs.

Rebecca Hitchcock

Rebecca Hitchcock runs choirs in Caterham, Sanderstead, Purley, Beckenham and East Grinstead.

Rebecca is a highly trained musician with grade 7 piano and singing and her musical interests are fantastically varied. She has 20 years’ experience as a pianist playing for local variety shows, weddings, wedding receptions, dinner parties and she is also an accomplished organist. She has sung in many choirs and assisted in training choristers for RSCM national awards.

Rebecca teaches piano and takes her pupils to exam standard. She has a successful composition career arranging and writing award-winning music of all styles including solo and ensemble pieces for marching bands. Rebecca runs the Hove jazz band ‘The 6th Alumni’ in which she conducts, accompanies on the piano and plays Euphonium in the brass section!

She has a strong passion for being part of Rock Choir and delights in teaching the members and brings the element of fun into the music.  

Charlotte Jones

Charlotte Jones is the Rock Choir leader for Ilkley, Leeds Alwoodley, Leeds Horsforth and Wakefield. She graduated from Leeds College of Music with a BA Honours Degree in Popular Music.

She is a passionate singer-songwriter, backing vocalist, instrumentalist and music is something that excites and motivates her every day. She was headhunted to work on the X Factor, within the choir and as a backing singer, performing with number one selling artist James Arthur. She has recently been touring the UK with ‘Winter Springs’, a 6 piece harmony- led folk/pop collective as well as performing as a solo artist.

Alongside her love for contemporary music, in her spare time, she has led and sung with gospel choirs and reached the finals of ‘BBC Choir of the year’ with ‘Sing It Gospel Choir’ in 2011. Charlotte is now over the moon to be working with Rock Choir loves to inspire members with her passion and beliefs in the power of singing.

Jess Hunting

Jess Hunting runs choirs in Northampton, Kettering, Market Harborough and Higham Ferrers.

Jess is a talented and enthusiastic musician. Her passion for music started at the age of six when she started to learn the piano. Jessica has three Grade 8 certificates in voice, piano and French horn. During her time as a musician Jessica has performed at The Royal Festival Hall and The Royal Albert Hall.

After graduating with a BMus honours in singing, Jessica went on to perform classical and contemporary music gigs around the country. As well as achieving a PGCE, she has a wealth of experience teaching singing to all ages and abilities.

Jessica loves her job with Rock Choir as she gets to combine her love of teaching, singing and most importantly - fun!

Kate Threlfall

Kate Threlfall runs choirs in Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley and Doncaster.

Kate is a professional singer and pianist. Starting piano lessons at the age of five, she achieved Grade 8 with the London College of Music. Her passion for singing developed alongside and Kate became involved in local theatre productions, most notably playing lead role in ‘Watermark’ at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.

She went on to train at The Italia Conti Theatre School in London and has since been a Redcoat for Butlins, Keyboard Vocalist in a band and has travelled the world as Principal Vocalist aboard luxury cruise liners. In 2004 Kate won the award of Best Female Vocalist with her own act. More recently she has been part of a four piece musical tribute to the West-End and Broadway.

Kate is thrilled to be part of the Rock Choir team and loves inspiring others with her passion for music.

Jim Hawkins

Jim Hawkins runs choirs in Kingston, Orpington, Richmond, Wimbledon, Bromley and Teddington.

Jim is a contemporary musician and composer and classically trained with an honours degree in Music and Music Technology awarded by Kingston University in 2001. Since leaving university, Jim has built a credible CV of musical composition and has had work broadcast on various TV channels including Discovery, Channel 5 and Channel 4.

He has a passionate interest in the emotive value of music and its powerful effect on the human mind, and finds immense pleasure in encouraging learners to identify with expressive qualities in the music being performed. Jim has worked for many years as a keyboard player, pianist, drummer, vocalist, and was contracted as "speciality pianist" for Disney Cruise Lines in 2007. Since then he has performed regularly in major London hotels, bars and casinos both as a soloist and as part of the ‘Jim Hawkins Trio’.

Jim is a valued, talented and exciting leader in the Rock Choir Team and regularly tells us “It's the best job in the world!”

Elaine Williamson

Elaine Williamson runs choirs in Glasgow, Newton Mearns, Edinburgh and Kirkintilloch.

Elaine graduated with an BA(Hons) in music performance from the UHI Millennium Institute in Perth Scotland. She has a wealth of performance experience around Scotland, working as a session pianist/ keyboard player and vocalist for various artists as well as working as an events pianist in such places as Perth Concert Hall. She has also worked as a music lecturer in Perth College as well as being a freelance piano, vocal and music theory tutor.

Elaine is an enthusiastic Musical Director and her most recent venture was MDing an original production of “Rocky the Musical” which she also co-wrote. She has a love of a variety of musical styles such as funk, soul, indie, rock and of course musical theatre.

Elaine is passionate about the benefits people gain from of singing as part of a group and is extremely thrilled to be a part of the Rock Choir team. She is also particularly enthusiastic about making Rock Choir a success in bonny Scotland!

Mike Tandy

Mike Tandy runs choirs in Wisbech, Kings Lynn, Peterborough, Hunstanton and Downham Market.

Mike Tandy achieved a degree in Popular Music after studying at both the Birmingham Conservatoire and the University of Wolverhampton. He has held the position of Musical Director for many theatre companies around the country, most recently for the Kings Lynn Operatic Society. His musical career so far has included spending many years working as Musical Director on cruise ships. He has also performing around the world with acts such as Jamie Cullum, Sam Kane (Brookside) and also the UK’s number one tribute to the Rat Pack.

Lucy Hewes

Lucy Hewes runs choirs in Reading, Henley and Ascot.

Lucy Hewes has been playing the piano since the age of 5, discovering her vocal ability along the way. Graduating with first-class honours in Classical Piano Performance from the London College of Music, she has always been keen to keep her career exciting and diverse. Lucy's previous experience ranges from teaching singing and piano to appearing in the feature film of ‘Joseph’ and performing on stage at the Royal Albert Hall with the London Philharmonic Choir. She is also currently playing keyboards in the hit West End show Jersey Boys and the UK Tour of Priscilla the Musical. Lucy is thrilled to bring all of her talents and experience to the role of Rock Choir leader.

Sam Smith

Sam Smith runs choirs in Chobham, Epsom, Dorking, Esher and Weybridge.

Sam Smith is a multi-talented contemporary performer and as a pianist and singer is a force to be reckoned with in the Rock Choir team. As well as gaining a degree in professional musicianship at B.I.M.M. (Brighton Institute of Modern Music) she previously won a music scholarship studying classical piano, flute, French horn and choral work.
Along with being a Rock Choir leader, Sam also teaches one-to-one contemporary singing, and helps to train the music team behind the scenes at Rock Choir.

Highlights of Sam's Rock Choir career include twice conducting at the Royal Albert Hall, touring with The Soldiers and singing solo at the O2! She is known to Rock Choir members as having endless enthusiasm and energy and her sessions leave everyone on a high!

Suzie Anderson

Suzie Anderson runs choirs in Abergavenny, Newport, Chepstow and Monmouth.

Suzie Anderson is a smiley, talented and enthusiastic singer, pianist, violist and violinist. She graduated from the Royal College of Music with a Masters in Advanced Performance in 2009. She holds a BMus Hons from Goldsmiths College University of London as well as two Grade 8 Distinctions in voice and viola.

She has had a colourful and varied career with a wonderful blend of orchestral and chamber work. She has performed extensively in some of the world’s most prestigious venues such as the Royal Albert Hall and the Cadogan Hall. She enjoys vocal work and helping to inspire the next generation’s musicians as a choir mistress, vocal coach, conductor, arranger, compositional coach, peripatetic and classroom teacher. To this, Rock Choir is the perfect complement.

Abigail Harris

Abigail Harris runs choirs in Hertford/Ware, Harpenden, St Albans and Watford.

Classically trained, she is a talented contemporary musician with four Grade 8 certificates as an accomplished pianist, oboist and saxophonist. She graduated with honours from the Royal Academy of Music and has performed extensively in Britain, Russia and across Europe. She has enjoyed solo performances at The Royal Albert Hall, St Martin-in-the-fields and The Wigmore Hall in London.

Abigail has won various awards for her classical skills including the ‘Sherrards and Observer Excellence Award’, the ‘Edith Oulten de Pauley Associated Board Prize’ and the ‘Guinness Music in Community Prize’. Alongside her love of contemporary and classical singing, Abbie enjoys teaching all ages and abilities, and is passionate that singing should be fun and accessible to everyone. Abigail is an asset to the Rock Choir Team and is loved by the members for her lovely personality and talent.

Angela Moran

Angela Moran runs choirs in Banbury, Coventry, Kenilworth, Stratford-upon-Avon and Warwick.

Angela Moran has a diploma in Piano from the London College of Music and a PhD in Music from Cambridge University. A published author and recognised expert in popular music, she also has grade 8 certificates in the violin and viola, and grade 6 in percussion. Twice performing at the Royal Albert Hall for the Last Night of the Schools Proms, and also as part of the world's largest orchestra at the Symphony Hall, Birmingham, Angela's background in singing and performance makes her ideal for the role of choir leader, and she is looking forward to sharing her passion for music with the world as part of Rock Choir!

From teaching oral singing skills and running college choirs to lecturing in popular music and writing about Irish music, Angela is enthusiastic about a wide variety of music and is excited to bring her diverse range of skills and experience to the local community as a Rock Choir leader.

Who is Rock Choir for?

Rock Choir is for adults and teenagers at any level of experience; there is no audition and no need to read music. Our weekly rehearsals provide a friendly atmosphere whilst you learn new skills and develop confidence.

You’ll experience the natural high of performing as a group in front of an audience, and feel a real sense of achievement singing at events and venues such as The O2, the Glasgow Concert Hall and Wembley Stadium.
